My playlist, My self

My playlist, My self

  1. I don’t need you around - Joe Hall
  2. You should be here - Cole Swindle
  3. Record year - Eric Church
  4. Till I collapse - Eminem
  5. Be somebody - 3 doors down

These songs are only some of the songs that describe me, these ones are important to me because each one of them describes an event or have a big meaning to me when I listen to them. I was first introduced to some of them by my brother listening to them and then going on and listening to some of the other songs they have. Others I had heard on the radio and I made a connection to them and how they brought back some memories. My playlist helps say that I am a person who is into country music, but not only country music. My choices of songs reflect that I am someone who attaches a meaning to the song or uses it to be a motivation when I need to get something done. They could learn that I won’t take stuff from people, or that I have gone through a loss that shouldn’t have happened but also I am a determined person who wants to get things done. They most likely will not be able to know that I have lost family members to cancer and that my senior year in high school was one of my best years for cross country and that I have been compared to my brother while growing up. Some assumptions they may have might be that I am a country girl, which is correct but I am not a full country girl, I like being up north and fishing and listening to country music but I do not do most of the things that country people do and I’m not from country.

When listening to these songs it makes me want to change how I view certain aspects of the world and that when looking at the bigger picture I want to change not only how I view people, and want to stop stereotyping right away like most people do but instead learn to love and get to know someone first. You don't have to live in the shadows of others, you can go out and become whoever you want to be and to me that is what these songs help me do and become.

  1. After reading your blog I liked the part when you talked about being determined and wanting to get things done. While writing mine I went a on similar path as that. I'll use music as motivation as well. It was nice getting to know a little bit about you.

  2. I like that you have a variety of genres of music and that one type just wouldn't be enough to describe you. It's interesting how people stereotype others and that they wouldn't think some people are even capable of listening to certain types of music.
