Not only a Team
When you take a first glance of the movie picture, you think its just a movie about cross country but once you get into it, it has more meaning than that. McFarland USA is about overcoming obstacles and showing not everyone else but yourself that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it. I enjoy watching the movie and I believe that the reason I really enjoy this movie is because I can relate to some of the lessons they are trying to get at. I have been running since 5th grade and when watching this movie I understand all the late night and hard practices. This movie gets to me on another level because I have lived this life for 9 years and still going, trying to balance school, late night practices and sometimes even work. When they are trying to prove to others that they are something it reminds me of how through my four years of high school the cross country team tried hard to show people at that school that we are something we are a team that can make it to state and give a good representation of the school and community. Though the mild violence has a big part of this movie, it shows that they look out for one another and don't give up on a teammate or friend. Throughout this movie they show how one team of strangers can become one close "family" and through the thick and thin, they are always there for one another. Even with the mild violence and the hatred that goes on in this movie, I believe that when someone watches this movie they learn more about not only cross country but about how teamwork can influence and change a person in many other sports.

I have not seen the movie but I liked how you mention you can relate to it because of obstacles you have overcame. I could think of some things I have personally had to over come to.
